We Have Iré, IS A new multidisciplinary theater work by Paul S. Flores, that explores the STORIES OF IMMIGRANT AFROCUBAN ARTISTS living in the United States, as well as their influences on and experiences with American culture.
We Have Iré speaks to the challenges of being an immigrant artist and celebrates the triumph of establishing one’s voice in a new country through live Cuban jazz, traditional Yoruba songs, modern dance, Latinx hip-hop, and spoken word.
The Making of We have Iré
For the soundtrack production Flores, Rolón, and Terry collaborated to safeguard the essence of the stage version while allowing musicians like Matt Brewer, and Mark Whitfield Jr., and Javi Santiago to improv and breathe Iré into a privileged two-day studio session jam.
